Costa Rica Family Adventure

Join us for a special Founder’s Trip designed for families, bringing together adventure, wildlife, beach time, and plenty of room to simply enjoy Costa Rica together.

 

Hosted in partnership with UnTours, a pioneer in sustainable and immersive travel, we’ll spend six nights exploring Guanacaste from just two boutique properties—from the volcanic foothills of Rincón de la Vieja to the beaches of the Pacific Coast. With less time in transit, there’s more time for meaningful experiences, relaxation, and both family and group time.

 

We’ll hike through volcanic landscapes, zipline, ride horseback, explore mangroves and a working Costa Rican farm, search for sea turtles after dark, and sail the Pacific by catamaran—with plenty of downtime for hot springs, pools, and the beach.

 

The idea is simple: a great family vacation, shared with other families, designed to experience Costa Rica thoughtfully and responsibly.

DAY 1, February 22: Arrive Costa Rica ➜ Rincón de la Vieja

Arrive in Liberia and transfer to Borinquen Thermal Resort. Settle in, enjoy the thermal pools, and gather for a welcome dinner.

DAY 2, February 23: Rincón de la Vieja National Park

Explore volcanic landscapes, tropical forest, wildlife, and geothermal features on a guided hike. Afternoon free for hot springs and pool time.

DAY 3, February 24: Ziplining & Horseback ➜ Pacific Coast

Morning adventure with ziplining and horseback riding before heading to the Pacific Coast. Settle into Bahía del Sol and enjoy the beach.

DAY 4, February 25: Mangroves & Costa Rican Farm

Explore the mangroves by boat, watching for monkeys, birds, crocodiles, and other wildlife. Visit a working Costa Rican farm for a hands-on local experience.

DAY 5, February 26: Beach Day ➜ Sea Turtle Monitoring

A relaxed day for the beach, pool, and family time. After dark, join local conservationists to search for nesting sea turtles along the coast.

DAY 6, February 27: Pacific Catamaran Adventure

Sail the Pacific Coast by catamaran with time for swimming, snorkeling, relaxing onboard, and taking in the coastline. Final evening together.

DAY 7, February 28: Depart Costa Rica

Enjoy a final morning at the beach before transferring to Liberia Airport for your journey home.

Curtis Fox, Privada Travel

Curtis is excited to lead this Founder’s Trip—Costa Rica is a place he knows well, having traveled and volunteered there multiple times over the years. Now the Managing Partner of Privada Travel, he has spent his adventure-travel career leading and developing trips around the world, always with a focus on thoughtful pacing, active exploration, and genuine connection.


Based in Vermont with his wife and two sons, Curtis spends his free time mountain biking in summer and skiing at Stowe in winter. Hosting this journey back to Peru feels like a full-circle moment, and he looks forward to sharing a place that helped spark his love of travel.
