Intrepid Travel for US National Parks
Intrepid Travel Launches "United by Nature" Campaign to Protect America’s National Parks
As one of our preferred partners, Intrepid Travel has always championed responsible tourism and environmental stewardship. Now, they're taking their commitment to the next level with the launch of the "United by Nature" campaign—an ambitious initiative aimed at raising awareness, inspiring responsible travel, and funding real conservation work across the United States’ treasured national parks.
Why This Matters Now
Recent proposals for major government funding cuts threaten over 75% of America’s wild spaces, including iconic parks like Yellowstone, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. These cuts could result in job losses, trail closures, damaged habitats, and under-resourced rangers—potentially changing the face of our national parks forever.
But these parks are much more than scenic destinations. They are sacred lands, home to endangered wildlife, rich Indigenous history, and the stories of generations. Last year alone, they welcomed over 331 million visitors and generated $26 billion for local communities. In short: our parks matter—to people, to the planet, and to the future of travel.
Intrepid’s Commitment to Conservation
Intrepid Travel has guided more than 20,000 travelers through U.S. national parks, and about 80% of their customers visit a national park during their adventures. According to Leigh Barnes, President of the Americas at Intrepid Travel, “The most powerful thing that we can do at Intrepid is get people out to these places to experience them. We believe tourism should leave a place better than you found it. If you hike through Zion or look out over the Grand Canyon, you can’t walk away without wanting to protect it. Our goal is to turn that awe into action.”

How You Can Help
Intrepid’s campaign is a call to action for all of us. As Barnes puts it, “We can’t just be visitors—we’ve got to be stewards.” Whether you join an Intrepid trip, sign the National Parks Conservation Association’s petition to Congress, or simply share your love for these wild spaces, your voice and actions matter.
Let’s be United by Nature and ensure America’s national parks remain protected for generations to come.
